GAME SET FLOWERS
We often get asked, where did you both meet and how did you set up a floristry? To put it simply, Hina and I met on a tennis court. Our sons would train at the same tennis academy while we both waited and watched by the sidelines. After months of exchanging recipes, gossip and parenting tips, we both realized this wasn’t enough for us. We wanted more.
I still remember the day Hina called me and asked if I want to join her in setting up a first of its kind luxury floristry in Karachi. We would be selling bouquets in luxe packing and floral centerpieces for parties. It seemed like a such a beautiful idea to be in a business surrounded by flowers all the time, and I immediately knew Hina would be someone I would be able to work alongside in synchronization.
The next thing I knew, we had made a WhatsApp Group, “Simply Flowers” where we would share inspirations of floral combinations from Pinterest, tutorials of how to make a perfectly round bouquet from YouTube, Floristries on Instagram to learn how to keeps blooms fresh for longer and more. It was almost like a tennis player training for a tournament: we were working on the serve, practicing the volleys and speeding up the footwork.
Soon we had set up shop and hired a team who we trained on how to make our kind of floral pieces. Our aesthetic goal was always to create bouquets which we would like to receive and center pieces we would like to use at our parties.
It has been almost four years since we setup shop, and we have grown our wishful idea into something we are both so immensely proud of. I can speak for the both of us when I say that we have a good double partnership where we always encourage, support and bring out the best in each other.
